These pages are mainly ideas as they are developing and its all work in progress. We welcome any input.

Local

Marketing the produce from small farmers, crafters and businesses who are based in the North Argyll area of L-O-R-N. Food, crafts, goods, skills, services, tapping into our wealth of talent in our micro-businesses sold to local people and the many many visitors.

Origins

All products to be grown, created, built, or made on the producers own L-O-R-N premises, within the expected restrictions of appropriate regulations and access to raw materials.

Rural

Sustaining our own rural ecomony in L-O-R-N which has been so badly hit by all the national and local problems over the past years.

Network

Bringing small businesses together to facilitate training, creating opportunities, inspire cooperation and empowering each with the support of the others.

So what - is this all just fancy words? ........

Having established a Network of people this 'community' organisation could have the powers to access funding, Set up Producers Markets, create a skills register, use each others businesses more, access training, employ coordinators and organisers, set up LETS schemes, collaborate to expand businesses into mail order taking advantage of all the visitors to the area who are a wonderful customer base few of us access once they leave. There are so many ideas which, together we are much more likely to be able to bring about than any of us slogging our guts out independantly will achieve.

No agency is going to lay all this out on a plate for us, especially not in the hereabouts. We have to do it for ourselves. I am sure each of us have seen examples of how powerful community business projects can be elsewhere. WHY not here?
