The food and creative producers of LORN the area and the Network invite you to join us, and become aFriend of L O R NThe aims of the Local Origins Rural Network [LORN] are to enable the local food and creative producers to keep more of the harvest of the land, the sea, their toils and their talents in the immediate area.Producers markets will be the most obvious activity for all the community to get involved in. We are aiming to hold them fortnightly from mid summer 2008.
If you are interested in local food and creativity please give us a small pledge of support [One pound], AND your email address, this will help us create many more opportunities for you to sample the wonderful wealth of taste and talent that is hidden around the area.In return we will provide email newsletters letting you know what is happening, including recipes and craft tips, as well as give you access to unique producer's offers throughout the year and notification of coming events.
In joining as a Friend you will be helping us improve the sustainability of the area, reducing product miles and allowing visitors and locals alike to savour the results of our labours at home and other outlets. The regular producers markets will also have local natural and environmental organisations helping to explore the wonderful flora and fauna that surrounds us, as well as advise everyone how to best to protect our resources for the future.
Other plans for LORN include a skills registry, practical workshops, bigger annual events, developing mail order around the country and beyond, and providing the platform for old and new businesses to blossom and thrive. The 'Friends' membership will bring many more benefits in coming years as we get established and our range increases.
